The Adalbert Stifter association
operates as a cultural institute conducting research into the literature of Bohemia, Moravia and Czech Silesia (Sudeten Silesia) written in German, including the mutual influences between this and Czech literature, and promoting cultural exchange between Germany and the Czech Republic. The association holds academic talks and colloquia, author readings and artists’ meetings. It prepares exhibitions on cultural history and publishes a yearbook containing essays and reviews.
Four academic staff (including the Cultural Advisor on the Bohemian Lands) and two administrative staff work in the association’s offices. The association is advised by a Committee of Experts from Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic.
The members of the association primarily help support its activities, paying an annual membership fee of €20 (€15 for concessions). Anyone interested should submit an informal application for membership. The Executive Committee decides whether to accept new members.
