1          Name

The association uses the name Adalbert Stifter Verein e.V. (Adalbert Stifter Association). It is based in Munich and solely and directly pursues non-profit purposes in accordance with the section on tax-privileged purposes of the Abgabenordnung (Tax Code).

2          Aims

(1) The aim of the association is to collect the cultural heritage and creative energy of the Germans from Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia, to preserve the scientific and artistic tradition of the Sudeten regions as part of German and European culture and in particular to integrate it into cultural exchange between Germany and the Czech Republic.

 (2) The association pursues its aims in particular by:

- promoting artistic and literary activities,

- research projects in the field of cultural studies,

- talks, readings, colloquia, exhibitions and other public events,

- maintaining and extending a library.

3          Bodies

The bodies of the association are (1) the General Assembly, (2) the Executive Committee and (3) the Committee of Experts.

4          General Assembly

(1) The General Assembly is the assembly of members within the meaning of the German Civil Code (BGB). All regular members and one representative each of the German Government and the Government of Bavaria are entitled to vote.

5          Executive Committee

(1) The Executive Committee consists of

- the chairperson, his/her deputy, the secretary and the treasurer;

- the Managing Director of the association.

6          Committee of Experts

The Committee of Experts is appointed at the proposal of the Executive Committee for a period of three years.

8          Membership

The Executive Committee decides whether new members shall be accepted.

Only natural persons may be regular members.
