The cultural manager organizes events on German-Bohemian and German-Moravian history, literature and culture (readings, film evenings, lectures, panel discussions, concerts) take place as part of a larger series. During these events we focus on a topic or an aspect of Bohemian cultural history. Here are two examples:
In this series of events the lives and work of famous and unknown personalities from the Czech lands, such as B. Bernard Bolzano, Dietrich Matausch (actor born in Leitmeritz/Litoměřice), Arnold Schück (a Prague entrepreneur) or Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach, are discussed. An anniversary or the publication of a new book, a new film etc. can be one of the reasons to dedicate an event to the life and legacy of one of these personalities.
Lecture series My path to our Germans
The title of the series that started in 2016 is taken from a lecture (held in 2004) by the Karlovy Vary archivist Milan Augustin. In Czech, the term “Our Germans” (Naši Němci) refers to Germans from the Czech Lands or the Sudeten-Germans. In a first lecture cycle, Czech writers, artists and intellectuals explore their personal views, inspiration and experiences that they associate with Czech Germans, but also with Germans in general. A publication of the same name, published in 2019, summarizes ten of these lectures.
It is planned to continue the series in 2021.
